Appointments

Appointments

You will have different types of appointment throughout your orthodontic treatment with us. A description of each type of appointment is below to help you prepare for your visits. No matter what appointment you have schedules, Dr. Pollei and our staff provide personalized and professional care. Patients (and parents) and always encouraged to ask any questions they may have!

New Patients

Initial Consultation
Your first orthodontic appointment will last approximately 45 minutes. This visit is designed to evaluate and determine orthodontic needs. A referral is not necessary for this visit. We understand that each patient is unique and Dr. Pollei will take the time necessary to discuss findings and treatment options, and to answer any questions you may have. Our treatment coordinator will also discuss future appointments and financial options to meet your individual needs.

To help keep your visit as efficient as possible, we encourage you to download, print and complete the New Patient Information form and bring it with you to your initial appointment.

You may access the following forms to assist us with your care. Please print and fill out the following forms, then bring them to your appointment.

These forms require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. If you do not have Adobe Reader already installed on your computer, click the Adobe logo to download.

Diagnostic Records
Following your evaluation, and if treatment is indicated, we will schedule an appointment to collect diagnostic records. Diagnostic records include:

  • Photographs
  • X-rays
  • Impressions or molds (which will be used to make study models)
  • Place spacers (if indicated)

These records are used by Dr. Pollei to confirm an efficient, personalized treatment plan. They also allow him to track the progress of your treatment.

Banding Appointment
This is when braces are places. If treatment indicates it, an impression for a special appliance to facilitate treatment may be made during this visit. Our staff will review proper home care and hygiene instructions, as well as provide other information about what can/cannot be eaten, what to expect the first few days after having braces put on, etc.

Please Note…
For your convenience, we are often able to combine the records and banding appointments into a single visit. This allows us to help you to minimize the time away from school, work or other activities.

Regular Appointments

Once your braces are on, we will see you every five to six weeks for an adjustment. These appointments usually take 15-30 minutes. Because we value your time, our office is committed to seeing patients on time. We ask that you offer the same consideration to us and inform us if you are unable to keep your schedule appointment. While we are happy to reschedule an appointment if needed, please understand that rescheduling an appointment may result in the new appointment being at a less desirable time since most appointments are scheduled several weeks in advance.
